The EQ3 Equitensiometer provides stable matrix potential and soil temperature measurements within the range of soil water potential. EQ3 adopts the first-class ThetaProbe probe technology, which avoids many problems of traditional water injection tensiometer and is especially suitable for use in dry soil. The measured water potential (matrix potential) is in the range of 0 ~ 1000kPa, which can provide reliable and accurate measurement.

Advantages

1 convenient, accurate and reliable alternative to water injection tensiometer

2 maintenance-free: no need to re-inject water or exhaust

3 Built-in temperature sensor

4 can be buried for a long time (IP68), low temperature resistance

Working principle

EQ3 consists of a precision soil moisture sensor (ML3 ThetaProbe) whose probe is embedded in a porous material (balance body). The material has a known stable relationship between water content and matrix potential. When the EQ3 sensor is inserted into the soil, the matrix potential in the equilibrium body is balanced with that in the surrounding soil. The moisture content of the matrix material was measured directly with EQ3 and converted into the matrix potential of the surrounding soil using calibration curves provided by each Equitensiometer.
