Machine vision camera

The machine vision camera captures the image data and then sends it uncompressed to the PC. That's why the pictures don't look as "pretty" as the ones on your phone. In consumer cameras, image data is compressed and smoothed and looks good, but does not provide the quality needed for defect detection and code reading.

If you use a high-speed application with a conveyor belt, you will need a line scan camera. These cameras use a row of pixels (sometimes two or three) to capture image data. If you need in-depth inspection, you can select an area scan camera. They have a rectangular sensor made up of a few rows of pixels that captures the entire image at once.

If the application does not require color analysis, a monochrome camera is often a better choice. Because they do not require color filters, they are more sensitive than color cameras and can provide more detailed images.

What is the role of machine vision?

Machine vision is used for quality control purposes. It helps enterprises identify, detect, guide and so on in a variety of ways today. Some examples include:

1. Correct production line defects

2. In agriculture, machine vision is also used as part of agricultural machinery to monitor crops and detect diseases on plants.

3. Inventory control and management

4. Product tracking and traceability

5. Measurement and calibration
