Spherical lens is a lens that polishes high refractive index glass into a spherical shape. The focal length of small ball lens is very short, so it can be used as collimating lens of optical fiber or optical coupling between semiconductor laser and optical fiber. Compared with focusing with objective lens, spherical lens can greatly save space.
