Light sources such as halogen lamps or xenon lamps contain strong hot wire (infrared) radiation in addition to visible light. Insulating glass is used to extract visible light from these light sources without the influence of hot wire radiation. Because of its high transmittance in the visible light range, the light will not be dimmed even if it passes through the filter.
